Game #1: Detroit 10-Boston 9
Was a slugfest with Detroit scoring in the top of the 10th to secure a
10-9. The Tigers jumped out to a quick 6 run lead and were looking to
cruise the rest of the game with a couple of two run two run HR down
the right field line HR's from Kirk Gibson in the 2nd and a Lance
Parrish' two run HR down the left field line that put Detroit up 6-0.
But a plucky Boston team fought back and pulled with one in the 7th
but Detroit kept hitting. The game was tied in the top of the 10th 9-9
when Glenn Wilson base hit scored Lance Parrish, Aurelio Lopez
finished up for the win.
Game #2: Detroit 6, Boston 3.
This by far was the best any of my teams have played. D-Town guys
swept the series from the very capable BoSox.
Jack Morris pitched 6.2 innings of eight hit ball and out lasted the
Red Soxs 6-3. Juan Berenger finished up for a well earned save.
Game: #3: Milt Wilcox pitched an absolutely stellar game shutting out
Boston 1-0 in Fenway Park. Wilcox only gave up 2 hits over 9 innings,
only walking 2 and 6 K's.
John Wockenfuss had the GW single in the 4th inning.
Game #4: Detroit brought the brooms, they had work to do. Detroit
trailed 2-0 going into the 8th inning when Gary Wilson single with the
bases drunk drove in two runs to tie. Then in the Tigers 10th, Enos
Cabell hit a 2b to drive in Gary Wilson from first for the game
winning hit. 3-2. Grumpart wins the game in relief.
Thanks to Alan for the games and a large amount of patience.
